Breast cancer Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women and represents a significant health challenge. The foundation supports research projects that develop innovative therapeutic approaches, improve early diagnosis and promote preventive measures. The aim is to increase the chances of recovery and improve the quality of life of those affected. Prostate cancer Prostate cancer affects men at a key stage in their lives and is one of the most common cancers. By funding studies into the development, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, we want to help men make informed decisions about their health and have access to the latest treatment methods. Multiple sclerosis (MS) MS is a chronic disease of the central nervous system that affects the brain and spinal cord and can begin in early adulthood. It is classified as an autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own cells. The symptoms of MS are varied, which is why the course, symptoms and success of treatment differ from patient to patient. What they all have in common, however, is that the disease has a major impact on the lives of those affected. The foundation is committed to better understanding the mechanisms of this disease and developing new therapeutic approaches that alleviate the symptoms and slow down the progression of the disease. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) COPD is a common respiratory disease that can significantly affect quality of life. Research into COPD is essential in order to develop effective prevention strategies, diagnostic tools and treatment options. By providing targeted support for these research priorities, the Laurenz Herting Foundation aims to help make important advances in medicine and offer hope and prospects to those suffering from these diseases. Together, we strive to raise awareness of these challenges and pave the way for innovative solutions.
